1. William^8 Perrine Van Wickle (b. Nov. 1856, NY)

Parents:
William's parents are Abram and Margaretta (Perrine) Van Wickle
Minerva's parents are John and Minerva [Spier] Gifford. (See source section below for family of John and Minerva [Spier] Gifford, including all of Minerva's siblings and birth years.)

Background information: William^7 Perrine Van Wickle (Abram^6, John^5, Nicasius^4, Simon^3, Evert^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes), b. 1829/9, Lyons, Wayne, NY. He married Minerva Gifford (b. 1827, Chatham, Columbia, NY) abt 1855, NY. William died 21 June 1857, NY just 7 months after the birth of his son.

Children: William^8 Perrine Van Wickle (b. Nov. 1856, NY). The following information taken from Washington Past and Present, courtesy, Joanne Pezzullo, via 10 May 2005 email and attachments. William P. Van Wickle was b. Lyons, Wayne, NY (reported birth date of 8 Nov 1862 inaccurate) and d. 25 October 1926 in Washington, DC. Survived by his wife, Albenia Gibson King. William received his education at Palmyra (NY) Classical School and Troy (NY) Academy. He went to New York City in 1876 and worked for the Bradbury Piano Factory as a shipping clerk and later in the repairs department and general offices. In 1878 he opened a branch piano warehouse in Brooklyn and another in Jersey City in August 1879. He moved to Washington, D.C. in 1879 to take charge of Bradbury Warerooms. The sale of Bradbury pianos at the nation's capital was largely due to William's personal acquaintance with public men and high officials from the chief executive on down. He eventually established the Van Wickle Piano Company, handling the Bradbury line of pianos. He married Albenia Gibson King, who was well connected to a well-established Washington, DC family. William was director and treasurer of the Washington Board of Trade, a member of the Columbia Historical Society and the National Geographic Society. He was a leader in the Free and Accepted Masons, member of Lafayette Lodge #19, Mt. Vernon Chapter, No. 3, Royal Arch Masons, Washington Commandery, Knights Templar, holder of 32nd degree. He was secretary of the reception committee that welcomed Admiral Dewey to Washington, DC. He was appointed secretary of National Capital Centennial Commission commemorating the establishment of Washington, DC as the seat of government in 13 Dec 1900, and he chaired the committee of medals and badges. William and Albenia owned a handsome house on Q street in an attractive area of Washington. He was also chairman of a committee marking points of interest in Washington, DC, setting in place over 200 markers.

Census data below reveals that Minerva Gibson and William Van Wickle were in the households of their parents in 1850. Apparently they married at some time between 1850 and 1856 in that their son, William P. Van Wickle, was b. November 1856 and William (senior) dies 21 June 1857. In 1860, Minerva Van Wickle, widow, and son, William P. (age 3) are living with Minerva's parents in Phelps, NY. By 1870, Minerva Van Wickle, widow, and son, William P. (age 14) are living with the family of her brother, Isaac, in Palmyra, Wayne, NY. Minerva may have died before 1880 as she cannot be located in any census thereafter. Her son, William P., moves to New York City in 1876 to begin his career as a shipping clerk and eventually seller and distributor of Bradbury Pianos. William moves to Washinton, DC abt 1879 and married Albenia Gibson King about 1888. He dies in 1926, survived by his wife. They apparently did not have any children.
